Whereas scientific methods constitute logical processes that individuals used to expand their understanding, nonscientific research does not involve any structured techniques when acquiring knowledge. Human beings have been said to exist to forever try and advance civilization. Scientific research has given rise to discoveries that have enabled physical unification of the human race with the first world countries being at the forefront of building unity through science and technology. However, scientific methods have their downsides. The methods hare limited to hypotheses that can only be tested and falsifiable. The research topic also has to be measurable for scientific research to be applied. What about other abstract things such as happiness and tranquility? These are two problems that even scientific research cannot solve. Even the most advanced countries still grapple with these problems. Scientific research can only lead to material civilization.

However, the social and religious progress of human beings seems not to develop. The last century has seen immense development in the field of science and technology. However, we have witnessed an increase in cases of depression and state of unhappiness. Human beings are still the same creatures they were a century ago in terms of their feelings, social orientation, and religious views. Such abstract problems are things that are immeasurable and that scientific research methods cannot solve. Nonetheless, the scientific approach remains to play a significant role in the development and advancement of human knowledge. For example, improvement in science has enabled civilization to explore the universe beyond earth. We see more diseases being diagnosed and treated every day. Technology is being used to come up with devices to manage diseases better. More research is being carried out on illnesses that were thought to be incurable such as HIV/AIDS as we gear ourselves closer to finding solutions to such problems.
