It is apparent that drivers do not long for the sound of wailing sirens and flashing lights which is an indication that they are being motioned to pull over. In this particular incident, there are some reasons why the driver has been stopped by the officer. The first issue raised is that the car has been observed running the stop sign (Wafa, 2020). This is deemed as a form of negligence since it is possible for the driver to hit another vehicle which is lawfully joining an intersection. In an even more dreadful scenario, it may result in a collision between more than one car. Also, the driver may run over pedestrians. This is a violation that could lead one to get ticketed. One may, therefore, have to join traffic school further inconveniencing themselves. The signs are meant to limit right of way and should be followed. The driver`s other fault is their failure to use turn signals. Such an action is inconveniencing and dangerous to other road users irrespective of whether the driver is aware of their fault or not. According to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), two million accident cases occurring each year result from drivers` failure to signal ( Kalra & Paddock, 2016 ). Drivers who fail to signal may be held liable for causing an accident. A driver ought to signal when parking, pulling out, at roundabouts, parallel parking and also when merging and passing. It is also noticeable from the video that there is an open beer bottle next to the driver`s seat an indication that the driver is driving under influence of alcohol. The officer is, therefore, justified to conduct a random breath test. If found to have an alcohol level which exceeds the required level, the driver`s license can automatically be disqualified and they are to be held liable in a court of law.
