Based on the epidemiology data from the CDC, (2018) cases of Influenza seem to be on the rise across all states except Oregon and Hawaii. Preventing the disease requires vaccination, especially among vulnerable groups. In gathering data on influenza, the most valuable approach would be through a descriptive study. The choice of this type of study is due to the fact that a descriptive study shows the populations at risk as well as the prevalence of influenza within the population (The epidemiological approach to investigating disease problems, n.d.). Moreover, a descriptive study allows for the computation of the number of individuals infected within a given time period. In turn, it allows for the classification of plans of action as concerns determinants and the implications of influenza on the population. (The epidemiological approach to investigating disease problems). In the state of California, the percentage of influenza-like illnesses stood at 7.7% as of 2017 which is significantly above the baseline rate of 2.2 %. On the other hand, the hospitalization rates stood at 59.9 per 100,000 population group ( California department of health, 2017). The same rate seems to persist to date hence the need for interventions. Through the descriptive study design, each variable will be analyzed at a time. The distribution will be based on the variables such as gender, age, location, and hospitalization rates ( Simpson, 2015). Data collected will be analyzed using statistical software such as SPSS which will expedite the process of obtaining inferential statistics. Findings will be presented in the form of tables, bar graphs, and pie charts. Data interpretation will be done with the utilization of frequencies, percentages, and pie charts. With the data, recommendations on the clinic locations will be made. As it stands, the clinics will be located in every sub-county where the vaccines will be freely offered.
