The society today has been made and developed in such a way that there are clearer lines upon which an individual can be able to effectively show their standings in the society as a whole. The essential part of the societal classes is meant to exploit the differences in the people and their perception to their fellows so that there can be a better perception of the modern society and their insistence towards focusing on self-growth compared to societal growth. The essence of othering in the modern society is major towards building the study since it helps to manifest the societal perception towards sociology and unity in the contemporary society.

Othering is mainly the essence of coming out to downplay other people due to the belief that they are of a lesser class or importance that a person. In the modern society, this is easily relatable due to the fact that the societal classes have been majorly brought out and thus, many people easily show the essence of othering either knowingly or sometimes without their knowledge (Dervin, 2012). For instance, in an office setting in the modern world, there has been a creation of departments such as the managerial department, the communication department. Thus, at some point, due to the managers having higher ranks in offices, they may come up to downplay their juniors due to their authority and this, explores the essence of othering in offices.

Even during trade, the essence of othering is brought out with the quality of products and services being rendered (Brons, 2015). Today, many people tend to look for quality services and thus, othering is brought in the sense that the startup businesses that still are on the growth trend have to come up with ways to stay afloat in business due to the possible othering effect (Jensen, 2011). With some of these examples given in relation to the modern world, there gets to be an open approach towards the essential aspects to the society today and their approaches to how to perceive how othering is played.
