The speaker point of view concerns creating news ways of reproduction using technology. For instance, he explains the process of cloning. The main aim is to reconstruct the cells of extinct animals and species. He clarifies that the two main ways of cloning are inter-cloning and intra-cloning. The speaker is biased in terms of concentrating on the positive aspect of biotechnology, despite that biotechnology approaches have a various side effects on the animals and plants they are practiced on.

Ethical Issues and Ethical Reasoning

The main ethical issues discussed include interspecies cloning which entails crossing different animals and plant to restore endangered species which is against nature. Also, there is the presence of freezing of cells as being means of restoration of extinct animals. All these practices are against ethical measures particularly in affiliation to what religion outlines.

Bio-Engineering

I think bio-engineering issues have moral and ethical implications because they interfere with God’s way of creation and provide optional ways of modeling living creatures. The scientific way of mating prevents the morally upright way of fertilization of sperm and ovum, as it naturally occurred. On the ethical part of it, bio-engineering interferes with the set standards of nature of creation. For example, the matter of cloning different animals is unethical; cloning of Bessie to reproduce a cow is against the nature of reproduction.

Speaker’s Point Of View

I agree with the speaker's point of view in terms of creating an additional way of restoration of genes and species that are being considered as extinct, to ensure that their presence is conserved, hence acting as means of animal protection. In order to restore the extinct species, biotechnology could be considered as a healthy way of reproduction but it should be strictly practiced with the same species. Additionally, Cloning is unethical. Cloning process in Biotechnology goes against animal rights by using animals as tools for an experiment which may even result to death. Most of the ethical related issues in bio-engineering are due to religion such as crossing different plants as well as animals.
