The ethics of divine commands are the foundation of what is morally upright and what is immoral. This implies that morality is influenced by the beliefs that human beings have about God. The author of the article concludes that the basis of morality is founded on the divine relationship between human beings and God. The author argues that the ethics of divine is based on God's superiority to human beings. Thus, the values of what is regarded as moral or immoral are related to how human beings depend on God as the creator and sovereignty of all.

The arguments presented to support this notion is that ethics of divine command are biblically based in both the Old Testament and the New Testament – where there is evidence supporting this. For instance, in the Old Testament, an action that was considered to be immoral would be made moral through the divine command of God. Similarly, in the New Testament actions that are contrary to the human emotions and nature are imposed in human beings by the divine command. For example, human beings are commanded to love their neighbors as much as they love themselves. These arguments suggest that God is the cause of all that human beings believe in and through His teachings humanity is informed about moral uprightness.

It can be ascertained that morality depends on the ability of a person to conform to the teachings of the Bible and the spiritual commands outlined in it. Therefore, the impact that the ethics of divine commands has on a person's moral values can be influenced by their life and experiences as being religious. Christians found their arguments on morality on the idea that God is just and whatever He wills happen.
