The advent of scientific advances and social changes in the modern world has prompted enormous health study reformations. Of particular interest is the incorporation of wellness and illness in the continuum of human health. The World Health Organization defines health as the completeness of an individual's well-being in all the dimensions of physical, mental, and societal states and not purely based on the absence of disease or infirmities in the individual (WHO, 2021) . Notably, the definition incorporates a description of wellness and illness along with health. The concept of wellness describes the inherent connection between the environment and peoples' potential of maintaining a high level of their well-being (Svalastog, 2017) . In contrast, the latter study asserts that illness describes the deviation of one's health condition from acceptable expectations. In the modern century, health promotion efforts have increased focus towards equality, patient autonomy, and empowerment efforts to improve the public health system. Implementing health promotion interventions based on evidence-based practice ensures better patient outcomes, nurses' job satisfaction, and better utilization of healthcare resources.

Health promotion at the primary promotion level aims at maintaining health through measures aimed at preventing the onset of diseases or infirmities (Ali & Katz, 2015). The level may include measures such as immunization, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and physical activity. Notably, the measures in the level significantly involve the active participation of the individual. Unlike the primary intervention level, the secondary intervention level is focused on early identification and screening of the signs of a disease to improve the management of the condition and reduce the risk of severity. The level also emphasizes educating individuals on the importance of screening procedures and promoting active therapeutic alliances between the health care providers and the people. Unlike the primary and secondary promotion levels, the tertiary level involves integrative healthcare strategies to achieve life improvement after the disease has resulted in permanent patient damage. The level is also focused on improving the functionality and reducing the morbidity of the patient. Combining the three interventions is crucial in achieving the purposeful degree of adequate explanations of the disease, treatment plans, and appropriate care regime, which are fundamental in patient education. For example, the primary level enlightens people on defining health problems while the tertiary level educates patients on adopting lifestyle practices that positively influence their condition.
