Introduction
Leaders who are focused are important for companies since they facilitate the achievement of the company goals. Focused leaders are in high demand in the present work where competition is stiff; the organization pays more salary for focused leaders to either entice them to quit their job and join the interested company or keep the focused leader on their present organization. The purpose of this paper is to highlight what entails to be a focused leader. The leadership article that I selected to analyze is The Focused Leader Harvard Business Review authored by Daniel Goleman. Goleman’s observation of a focused leader is directly related to the framework of the Principles of Leadership course that I learn as a course that explains why I preferred analyzing the article. Also, the article highlights how the situation, followers, and leaders play crucial roles in outcomes in addition to the power bases of competencies, leader development, and leadership and all this aid us to be a successful, focused leaser and how to improve as a leader. Additionally, I find the article intriguing and informative since it explains how an individual can become an all-around focused leader: the article highlights the three aspects that are used to identify a focused leader, and they include focusing on yourself, focusing on others, and focusing on the wider world.

According to Goleman the main function of leadership is to direct attention. To accomplish it, leaders should be able to focus their attention. People always have the notion that being focused” entails filtering out destruction when concentrating on one task. The three insight that I have gained from the article include focusing on the wider world, focusing on others, and focusing on yourself. To be a good leader I learned that I should be able to be good on these three insights. Focusing on my self would help me strengthen my emotional intelligence and self-awareness and will help with my leadership skills. Also, focusing on other will help me strengthen my leadership skills by ensuring the welfare of my juniors is taken care off. Lastly, the focusing on the world would help my leadership skills by being a good listener and a good questioner this would enhance my leadership skills.
