The four main elements of the promises that God has made to those who seek his kingdom are; offspring, land, blessings of Abram and that of nations through Abram. These are analyzed in Genesis where the Lord talks to Abram and tells him to leave his home and go to the land that he would be shown.

The element of people means that the descendants of Abram would be great enough to fill the different nations that exist in the world today. Abram is also promised land if he gets to move from where he currently lived. This land was Canaan and not only was he promised that land, but also his descendants would get to live there and own everything. Another element is the blessings which will be given to the descendants of Abram and in extension “all peoples on earth.” This was the reason that his name was changed into Abraham which meant the father of the multitudes.

Indeed, this story about Abram has been significantly enlightening for me. For instance, I never knew the exact relationship that Abram had with God. It always appeared like he was a man that was too holy and righteous to be compared by the rest of the people. However, his story proved to me that he was just an ordinary man. He did not get the blessings that he got because he was too good at keeping the laws of God. On the contrary, it was merely by grace that he got to live such a life. It means that it does not take purity and 100% righteousness to be considered good with God, on the contrary, just the desire to be righteous.
