The workplace, the government, the community, and interest groups make up the four spheres of political action in nursing. The fours spheres play a vital role in influencing policies that impact on the health care of the people and the entire nation. The government provides for regulations that define how healthcare services, health care policies, and development agendas are deployed for the people. According to Kennedy and Connolly (2018) w orkplace entails the working setting of the nurse in addition to the external and internal policies that affect the general working place. On the other hand, interest groups involve nursing groups or associations that help in advocating for nurses welfare in addition to their influence on healthcare policies and working formula ( Griffith & Tengnah, 2017) . Community refers to the group of persons within a given area that have common factors together.

Nursing Experience

The above mentioned four spheres overlap and interconnect in various ways. All through my working with diverse communities, government policies such as healthcare regulations and awareness campaigns initiated by the government have had a direct impact on how I approach and offer health care services. Interest groups, in addition to the local community, have taken government initiatives towards eradicating chronic diseases keenly, a prospect that has deeply defined by the attitude towards community health. Through the programs, interest groups have offered technical services; the community has been the pillar of support in various ways, while the workplace has enabled me to understand how healthcare services are intertwined with community health frameworks. During the immunization exercise, I connected with the community members jointly to learn about their most critical concerns following the outbreak of viral pneumonia. All four factors played a crucial role in the overall success of the exercise. The government depended on the nurses for the success of the project. On the other hand, the nurses relied much on interest groups and the community to accomplish this task. The interest groups and society in turn work hand in hand with the nurses to achieve the objectives of the exercise.

Ethical Considerations

Ethical considerations entail universal guidelines and codes of conduct that offer instructions on nurse motives, intentions, and actions. According to Delp et al., (2016) they refer to the moral guidelines that will be used to govern the behavior of the nurses and even the community towards the healthcare exercise. The primary ethical considerations to be considered include respect for the people under treatment, utmost commitment to the community, and people under care, advocacy, promotion, and protection of the safety of the patients. Others include upholding and improving the ethical environment of the work environment and upholding the responsibility to promote wholeness, and integrity all through the exercise.

Overcoming Challenges

Nurses need to be consciously aware of some of the challenges they may face when it comes to the spheres of political action in nursing. At the same time, they need to know and understand how to overcome these challenges. It’s no doubt that besides other ordinary problems, nurses face numerous challenges, and the best strategy is to know how to place oneself strategically within the workplace. Establishing a support program, mentoring model in addition to having a positive interpersonal relationship with other nurses is critical towards overcoming and finding solutions to some of the everyday challenges. Nurses also need to be abreast with relevant nursing issues, educating themselves, learning from mentors, studying smart, and always striving to excel in one’s area of expertise. Nurses need to understand, analyze, and put into practice all complex and challenging issues within their work. Through this, they will position themselves strategically to respond to any obstacle while within their place of work. For example, challenges within the workplace such as inadequate schedules, low pay, and poor planning on shifts, a nurse can closely work with the management in the case he or she finds an anomaly in their everyday work engagement.
