Healthcare facilities are subjected to voluntary or legally required by the law to be evaluated on their compliance as compared to pre-established performance standards. Several vital components and levels are to be considered to ensure the effectiveness of these accreditation programs on lifespan management services and facilities (Anne, 2018). The impact made on stimulating improvement in the health care services qualifies an accredited program to be successful.

The first level is to establish the mission and philosophy as well as the authority and infrastructure of the program to be undertaken. It is important to identify if it is voluntary or non-voluntary accreditation required by the law and if it is going to be carried out by a government or non-governmental entity. Ensuring professional commitment towards the objectives of the program enables standard development and interpretation. Furthermore, objective, relevant and measurable standards should be set up for each program (Anne, 2018). If the incremental improvement is set higher than the available resources, the facilities might feel somewhat demoralized.

Thirdly, the management of field operations is essential. This is done through selecting and training of the surveyors, and educating them on the standards of healthcare organizations, then pre-survey and logistics arrangements are set up for on-site surveys. Afterwards, a standardized evaluation methodology for the program is then developed for the whole program. Besides, an essential program should have a framework for accreditation decision making to ensure fairness, validity, and credibility of the program (Anne, 2018). The findings from the evaluation of the program give rise to an accreditation database where the results are compared to other pre-described standards of healthcare facilities pointing out areas that need improvement and those that should be commended for their good performance.

In recent years there has been substantial evidence of the positive impact of accreditation on healthcare facilities. These programs have had implications at the local, state and federal levels where patients are evaluated on their satisfaction towards healthcare services received and improvements needed. They further ensure that the state officials know about the certified and qualified facilities to undertake healthcare services in each state. Accreditation is done by non-governmental organizations hence ensures that quality is addressed and advised professionally to improve health services.
