‘ The Goal’ is a novel written by Eli Goldratt that focuses on management. It is based on fiction but renders effective lessons to managers and business owners. The experience that I acquired from the novel is that it is best for a company to identify its bottlenecks for smooth and fruitful operations. The book emphasizes on the fact that discovering a company’s bottlenecks helps in identifying areas of weakness and executing necessary changes to ensure its success.

The lesson of identifying a company’s bottlenecks is a crucial step to all firms regardless of the size and complexity of its operations. For instance, the E-waste Company recognized how it would obtain its raw materials without incurring a cost that other businesses incur since the company’s raw materials are waste products. In such a situation, the company has already reduced the budget regarding purchasing of raw materials. This step helped the business to plan and position itself in the market as it grows. For instance, given the fact that it will obtain its raw materials from Information system centers, the firm can also use the same companies to market its products to attract the appropriate customers. The book also portrays the importance of recycling machines for future use-old assets should not be eliminated when they have no purpose but stored for identified future use.
