The Holocaust refers to an event in the 20 th century where there was the annihilation of Jews and other people who were considered undesirable. The Nazis carried out genocide on the Jews and the other populations who were regarded as undesirables. The focus of the Holocaust was to reduce the population of people that the Nazis believed were evil and led to more hardships for the Aryan race (Taylor, 201). According to the Nazis, the Aryan race was a superior race, which was supposed to dominate other races which were seen as inferior. The Holocaust thus happened to get rid of the undesirables and ensure the Aryan race dominated.
Science played a particular role during the Holocaust. Indeed, scientific experiments were performed on the Jews and other undesirables to biologically eliminate the other races while looking for ways to increase the population of the Aryan race. The most famous experiments were done on twins (Lebovic, 2016). Darwinism during the Holocaust entailed that only the fit ones should survive. In this case, the Aryan race was considered as the fit race. Technological advancement during the 20 th century made it possible for Hitler and his men to look for easier ways of transporting large numbers of people (Cohen, 2010). Transportation was also faster considering there were trains.

After the Holocaust, the world was shocked by the horrible things that had happened to the Jews including pictures of skeletons piled bodies and the remaining victims. The most shocking fact was how the event of such magnitude was unnoticed to the allies. While there were attempts to bring to light the events of the Holocaust, most of the information that got out was classified and hidden (Cohen, 2010). Winston Churchill advocated for bombing the death camps, but he was silenced. Later President Roosevelt issued a statement to condemn the acts. As such, the allies did not do enough to help the Jews as they could have acted promptly to save thousands.
