A 2001 Space Odyssey is one of the most entertaining movies of the 20th Century with the perfect composition regarding visuals, audio, and other effects that contributes to classic art. I decided to choose the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) for part one of my essay and film. The film is about the evolution where the monolith impact on the lives of humans and apes. It focusses on the two specific periods, 4, 000, 000 years ago, that the director refers to as the dawn of man. The second period is the near future. Astronauts set to Jupiter using discovery one to investigate the origin of man. The description of the differences between humans, animals, and the effects of technology in the developed world forms a vital part of the plot. The society is unsure of the impact of technology and nuclear power (Kubrick, 1968). People believe that it might be the end of the world or the dawn of a new future. The situation describes the risk of human technological innovation in society. The technologies that resemble human faces show the human dependability on change.

Evolution and the technical impact on humans have always been my passion. Learning about the two items through a movie prompted me to choose 2001: Space Odyssey since it embroils the two elements. Also, the symbolic aspect applied in this film contributes to its reflective approach to the entire universe. For instance, the bone signifies the weapons show the evolution aspect that is mainly possible through an application of technology.

I like the idea that technology transitions human perceptions about evolution and the dawn of man. The most disheartening issue is that technology itself leads to negativities such as destruction of the earth through missiles. The description of the characters such as Bill Weston, Glenn Beck, Mike Lovell, Dr. Dave Bowman, and Dr. Frank Poole contributes to my appreciation of this film since the present the face of technology and its influence in apes and humans alike. The film also presents the science fiction genre, a hilarious movie that applies technology and human consciousness to describe the act of evolution.

Stanley Kubick was one of the perfect composers of the science fiction movies. The use of music such as Richard Strauss’ ‘Also Sprach Zaratustra’ or Johan Strauss II’s ‘The Blue Danube’ shows the classical approach to the use of audio that matches the visual effects such as discovery one, and other space travels are vital. He also envisions a technological world where artificial intelligence will be the mostly applied technology in the future (Rothman, 2018). The technical conscience used in this film provides credit to Stanley Kubic as a perfect film director of all time.

The lighting and camera depend on the scenes in the movie. The red and green color in the landing on a space ship scene shows a perfect background. The photographer of the future takes an angular position to capture the ideal pictures during a press conference (Kubrick, 1968). The application of interface locking in when astronauts arrive in space also shows the perfect camera work in this film. The camera transitions and dim lighting in the moon represent the beauty of this film.

HAL the onboard supercomputer in this film. It assists in the standard voice recognition in the spacecraft directions and video recognitions. The aspect that AI takes in human lives is also visible in the film through an application of consciousness (Fuge, 2018). The use of the future human who converted to space travellers, their ability to visit hotels and other social centers in Jupiter also explained the special effects of AI in this aspect. The robotic world is mainly possible through AI.

The intelligence and courageous act of David Bowman contribute to his survival in a lonely trip to Saturn and transformation to eternal being without a body. Frank Poole also applies perseverance through a journey to Saturn and engages in the mechanical aspect that leads to his death. I liked his tenacity and optimism. Moon watcher is one of the gifted man-apes who shows an element of walking upright to show an evolution and plans ahead for the near future.

Ape-men, the black monolith and the giant spacecraft termed as discovery 1 are all creatures and inventions that I believed provided the beautiful scenes in this film. The progress of AI was optimistic in the 1960s. The inclusion of the missiles, robotics and the entire Jupiter and Saturn represents the beauty of this film at the time of its production (Bizony, 2018). Also, the presentation of Jupiter and Saturn as the beautiful planets on space shows a scenic beauty and the attractive elements applied.

Conclusion

2001: Space Odyssey has a vital impact on the science fiction genres. The presentation of robotics such as HLA, the ape-men creatures and the spacecraft was all possible through the application of computers as an ideal method for the production of this film. The situation contributed to the emphasis on the science fiction movie genre and its influence in future society. The time machine is another science fiction film that has similar themes to 2001: Space Odyssey. They both dwell on the future aspect of human beings and the evolution that will occur in the future. Time machine dwells on the transition of people to childlike and vegetarian in the future while 2001: Space Odyssey dwells on the application of AI in the future. The film ends when Dave Bowman is turned back to earth by aliens as a superman who has the AI ability to achieve any technologically directed act. It represents the ideal study of human evolution.
