Article 1: Malala Yousafzai - The National (CBC News)
Motivation can either be intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic are factors from within, factors like responsibility, freedom to act, skill growth and development. Extrinsic are external factors like promotion, reward, punishment. Freedom reduces conflict amongst the leader and the staff. If rights and freedom are subjected to the violation, then this demoralizes and develops resistance between the management and workers. For instance, despite the Malala being shot, she fights for women education and another right. Malala is self-motivated, as motivation generates from inside. Firm fails by ignoring intrinsic factors, for example, skill development, rather basing their task on achievement, as they build trust, commitment and fuels workers effort. According to Uhl-Bien (2014), both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are necessary, they help workers satisfy their primary needs and secondary needs that is, acquired needs and achievement needs.

However, a financial incentive not satisfying, employees are motivated through delegation and power-sharing where their decision is upheld. In such case employees feel much valued, recognized and they end up owning organization’ tasks which help attain the common goal. Furthermore, the organization need to impose freedom on its workers, for example, time to have their tea and lunch breaks, paid leave an off-day. A good management erases 365 days of attendance by employees. The freedom help reduces unnecessary absentees and thus, firm exploiting all labor resource resulting in high productivity.
