Courage is an important element when it comes to dealing with people in business and even in day-to-day life. Courage is the inward feeling that propels an individual to try things, trust people or situations and be open about things. In my work experience, I have learned the importance of courage as a mechanism used to discern fear and work towards achieving the set goal. An example of courage I have encountered is the try courage; this courage has been used by our seniors in all areas that aim towards achieving the goals of the company. Try courage has been applied several times especially when trying new ideas and implementing new projects. In most cases, our senior in the department allows us to brainstorm new ideas and come up with new and innovative ones; in this case, it enables everyone to be courageous enough to speak out their ideas and how these ideas will help in achieving the company goal. The try courage has indeed improved company performance because our seniors trust us with the responsibility to try new ideas, and this has proved to challenge and build the company. Our seniors’ have taught us through examples by giving us the platform to exploit every individual’s potential (Treasurer, 2009) .
Modeling courage is important in the workplace because it acts as an encouragement to the other staff. A leader who nurtures his courage first will influence others by acting as an example. Treasurer writes that a person’s newfound behaviors will influence other people to also step into their courage. Therefore modeling courage is important only if the leader has first found his courage and uses it to influence others. Courage is important because it enables an individual to risk and get the best out of it. It enables one to abandon fear and to try, trust and speak out why they think is right.
