A primary problem is the initial issue that causes a patient to seek healthcare. In this case the primary problem that the client is presenting is the 4-day history of cough and a subjective fever which they fear may be connected to Covid-19.

According to Sharma et al., (2020), the best care priorities to be taken at this point are isolation and supportive care. Since the patient displays symptoms that are mild they will be isolated in a well-ventilated room. In situations where a communicable disease has been announced it is important to follow usual procedure on how to handle infectious diseases especially if the patient was in the area where the virus is and displays the symptoms.

The interventions that will follow should be in line with keeping the patient isolated and under observation. According to Sharma et al., (2020), medical management has a number of treatment options that are to be followed and precautionary measures that will help reduce the spread of this virus. If these steps are followed they can help in prevention and control of this infection.

Nurses need early education regarding the symptoms, modes of transmission and ways to interrupt the flow of the infection (Corless et al., 2018). Them being armed with this information makes it easy for them to better educate the community on ways to avoid the spread. The nurses will be able to discharge a patient after they have met all the necessary criteria according to the provided guidelines. Families will need to be properly educated about the results, what they mean and how to help care for the patient and avoid possible infection.

Researching, reading and gathering as much information as possible is vital when teaching the communities about prevention. It is important for healthcare practitioners to be considerate of whom they are talking to, they must not use medical jargon and they must be understanding and open to all the questions. They must create a free and open space for people to share their concerns. If all their concerns are addressed, this will help reduce fear.
