Development of laws begins with bills being introduced in the House of Representatives or the Senate, being discussed and later ascent by the governor for implementation as law. Various laws have been introduced that have impacted the health sector through various ways. As a policy analyst, it is my duty to monitor the lawmaking agencies and notify my organization of the impact the new laws are expected to have on my organization. The America health care act of 2017 was recently introduced and it is expected to impact change in the health sector.

The law is an improvement of the affordable care act introduced during the Obama administration. It is seen as a tool to improve healthcare in America by making healthcare accessible and affordable. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives by the Republicans. The media have referred to the act as trump care. Healthcare registrations can be introduced to either of the houses; however, if the bill will affect taxes, it is supposed to be introduced in the House of Representatives. The proposed bill goes through a public hearing, and experts from both sides of the house argue their points and inform on the potential law. After hearing the committee makes suggestions based on the opinions and advice of the experts. Later the legislators open the discussion to the public who make suggestions and amendments. If the head of each chamber allows for voting and if it passes it goes to the chamber. The aim was to ensure that the act would not cost taxpayers more money and end up not improving the healthcare services of the Americans. The affordable health care act was to change the Obama care through expanding access to association health plans. The order also enabled insurance companies to sell policies across state boundaries (Rouse, n.d.).

The law was established through legislative action. The Republicans introduced the bill in the House of Representatives, and the document went through all the steps a bill goes through to become law. The economic projections by the congressional budget office indicated that there would be more insured people, which meant that there would be a federal deficit, however, on the bright side there would be an increased individual market. The act did receive criticism from both parties, and it was not popular. In October 2017, president trump signed an executive order that made the affordable healthcare act (Amadeo, 2018). The order would later modify the Obama care in various ways.

Affordable health care act of 2017 is expected to have an impact on the health sector and other players related to the industry. Some of the expected changes include the blocking of grants for Medicaid; president trump has suggested tax cuts that consequently decrease the expenses in healthcare. The act puts more emphasis on the value of healthcare; it recommends that healthcare providers have to show outcome for their services and this has to ensure that technology is fully implemented and then the insurers can pay them. The use of technology translated to healthcare facilities, investing more in information technology. The need to control the growing costs ensures that technology is used and care management is shifted to patients (VERTESS, 2017). The act will further ensure that there is less government regulation of healthcare providers more so there will be fewer cost controls for the physicians. The act also promotes more public-private partnerships. The act also promotes accelerated innovation, new strategies and methods will become viable options for health care providers as they work to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality delivery. The act creates more demand for outpatient hence creating more entrepreneurial opportunities for hospitals and other stakeholders. It is also expected that more mergers and acquisitions are to be experienced.

In conclusion, the affordable health care act was recently passed, and its implementation is expected to make changes to the health sector. The law was made through the House of Representatives and later signed by the president. Some of the changes include tax cuts, increased utilization of technology that would consequently lead to increased quality of patient care among others.
