Love remains a phenomenal thing to all humankind alike. Sappho’s viewed love as one single great force that contained the strength to change mountains and move trees. She clearly states that love possesses the capability to change the whole world for the better. Through her lyrics, one can realize that she is acquainted with a beauty that does not just appear when it is desired, but one that needs to be found. For a child to experience prosperity, the child must be loved and also learn to love. She asserts that love is not just for the strong and lucky but can be experienced by everyone. One needs, like Sappho, love for family, lovers, friends, gods and goddesses and the beauty of the universe and the things therein. Persons are born half and have to find the other half; true love to be complete. Sappho approaches Venus, her goddess and begs her to assist her in love life. She says “O Venus, daughter of the mighty Jove, most knowing in the mystery of love help me, oh help me, quickly send relief” (Burnett, 1983). Sappho believes in the supernatural touch in the issues to do with love. She clearly pleads with the goddess of love to help her and not allow her to succumb to suffering. Her major necessity is to locate her true love.
It can censoriously summarize that love remains a pillar that permits smooth operations in the society. Some of the ways tragedians can avert the tragedy that comes with love include; consulting a divine authority, continually motivating their loved ones and making the right expressions that can fuel love.
