The main focus of any healthcare system and nursing practice is to realize improved and positive patient outcomes, quality healthcare services at an affordable price as well as enhance professional working environments. The Magnet program is designed to guide clinical practice decisions through Evidence-based practice (EBP). Nurses' participation in an EBP committee fosters improved patient outcomes and professional growth.

The Magnet Recognition Program through EBP ensures that current research is used to improve patient outcomes, thus improve the quality of life. The evidence-based guidelines enable nurses and patients in making critical and ethical decisions during clinical dilemmas. Ordinarily, the EBP requires integration of research and clinical practice to ensure that nurses received maximum support from the healthcare administrators (Schmidt and Brown, 2017). Therefore, EBP nurses are required to ask well-built clinical questions then find the best available evidence through research. Afterwards, appraise the evidence, implement it and finally evaluate the outcomes. Magnet recognized organizations must pass the certification criteria by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Recognized hospitals always ensure that their nurses are actively involved in the procedure and clinical policy review. Also, they are encouraged to use the current clinical practice to evaluate research.

As much as the current practice environment at Friends Psychiatric Hospital is good, the situation would be better were it a Magnet Program certified. The administration mainly does the policy formulation and implementation with very minimal nurse participation. This contrasts the EBP guidelines. This does not, in any way, mention that the environment results in reduced healthcare service delivery. However, the implementation of the EBP guidelines would improve patient outcomes and service delivery (Melnyk, 2018). In a nutshell, the EPB requirements through the Magnet Program significantly improve the healthcare system through the integration of current research with current clinical practice.
