Jersey shore was a reality show that aired on MTV. It started on December 3, 2009 to December 20, 2012. It became a very popular show in television and was viewed by very many people. It revolved around the lives of 8 roommates, namely Paul DelVicchio, Jenni Farley, Vinny Guadagnin, Michael Sorrentino, Sammi Giancola, Nicole Polizzi, Angelina Pivarnick, and Ronnie Ortiz Magro. They are middle-aged Italian people who live together in a house by the beach (Jude, 2019) . In seasons, one, three, five, and six, the season was shot in Seaside Heights in New Jersey. The second season was shot in South Beach in Florida while four was in Florence, Italy. Individuals depicted in the cast love drinking and having fun in clubs. They have irresponsible sexual activities and act just as the normal young person as stereotyped in society.
Jersey shore is the type of reality show that brings together a group of young people who behave immaturely, drink excessively, use racist slurs at each other and embarrass themselves in front of a whole country watching. It became the best ever watched TV series by the television network increasing the fan base and viewers by 27%. The show eventually became a pop culture hit and gained popularity so much that it has been used in university classes and conferences to analyze its aspects and why it attracted so much attention (Schrodt, 2018) . Following its success, other countries launched shows adapted from it having the same aspects. The actors were also given their own spinoff shows after the series’ end. Others got the opportunity to appear in other reality shows. Jersey shore tries to show that regardless of all the irresponsible things they do, they are still good people who have jobs and go to work.

The show became interesting since it was well scripted and MTV did an appropriate job of trying to show what kind of life young people live. The show is filled with brainless entertainment with petty drama, which was fun to watch for most people. Most viewers recognized that the show did not have the best substance; it actually did not have much that could be indicated as good acting. It was filled with racial abuses, fighting, infidelity, and sexual promiscuity yet most viewers admitted they could not stop watching it (Jude, 2019) . It created the impression in people that such activities could be acceptable and most people were experiencing them. They did not seem to see them to be much of a big deal. The show was not that good since it portrayed bad images of the eight people who were living together, and also ignored various important issues. The people in the show were the same, they believed they were of Italian-American descent and spoke about their so called culture with high pride. They used racist language towards Italians. They use the slur similarly to that of African Americans using the N word. They showed complete disrespect for the Italian culture. This offended the Italian American community living in the United States since it brought forth a negative image of who they were as a people (Hamill, 2018) . They were portrayed to be promiscuous and drunkards. It disregarded the Italian culture.
The show is used to represent eight Italian Americans living in a beach house. It shows their extremely negative views on relationships and sexual activities. The cast regards themselves to be better than the ordinary Italians (Jude, 2019) . The kind of main theme brought into light in the show is the stereotypic young person’s life. The show sheds a light on the way most people of their age behave in the current American setting. Characters in the show avoid any relationships by any means and choose to have multiple sexual partners some of whom they meet randomly and have relations without even knowing each other. They treat this as a normal thing as most students do in campuses (Schrodt, 2018) . It brings out the aspect of too much drinking as the major cause for all the promiscuity. Whenever they go out to party, they aim at getting their catch and making out with them and even taking them back home. The millennial depicted in the film are simply used to demonstrate that, they also have a positive attitude towards life.
The show portrays a negative image of sex to young people. Only a handful of people in the show had serious relationships. They bring about the idea in young people that relationships act as a barrier and restriction since one is forced to remain loyal to one person. They indicate how freeing one from such attachments gives them the freedom to have so many experiences with numerous partners, a habit that can prove to be dangerous. Most females in the show are criticized in the show if they do not meet the expected characteristics of the average woman (Hamill, 2018) . Gender is also affected. Women who don’t wear makeup, dress up and have sexual appeal are seen as not worthy talking to. It portrays women as just people who want to have sexual relations with men. It disregards the role of women in society. The show reinforces stereotypes that are negative about Italians. It uses the common thinking among all people that all Italians are good looking. It makes it seem as if all Italians act out and are temperamental, use racist language, and disrespect people that seem to below their physical standards. They try to show these people as promiscuous and sexual in a negative point of view (Hamill, 2018) . It created a negative stereotypic image of the average Italian.
The premier of the show was on December 3, 2009. It had a large fan base. The show is global due to the large scope it covers of the typical young person. It reflects on the stereotypical view of the normal young person in the world. It brainwashes the media and makes people believe everything that is happening in the show should happen in real life. It shows how young people drink excessively and club too much (Schrodt, 2018) . In addition to that, the show received a large viewing worldwide but it was faced by my major criticism for purely bad television. It disregarded the effects it would have on the young people who were watching it globally, the Italians it offended everywhere and the bad image it portrayed generally.
It fits in the reality show category of pop culture. This is verified by the immersive arguments that are part of pop culture show in the current entertainment world. It was drama filled just as other shows that had preceded it. It had bad and tragic news that were things that happened in the real life setting. The members of the shore had pop culture kind of behavior such as messy partying behavior. It also helped in promoting pop music and electronic dance music through the enormous partying (Hamill, 2018) . It also displayed what most people view as the pop culture where male cast members only wanted to get ripped, have flashy hairstyles and look good in front of their peers and attract more ladies (Schrodt, 2018) .
In overall, the main point of Jersey Shore was to show young individuals who are good looking and what people want in television based on stereotypes. The show allowed MTV to rise back into fame. The creators were aware of what they were creating and the impact it would have on young people. However, the show succeeded in creating a stereotypic image of all young people.
