Rapport and Relational Alignment 

I would be able to maintain rapport and check relational alignment in order to support forward progress by working towards building confidence on the part of Brody. I believe that it would be essential for me to learn the character of Brody form multiple perspectives, which would be of value towards building on the relationship that I create with him. Maintain rapport would mean that I would seek to build on the trust that I develop with Brody taking into account the challenges that he is facing in terms of his lack of confidence. As a counselor, it remains vital for me to create an environment within which Brody would feel safe, which would help in ensuring that he opens up fully.

Phase Two Distinctive Features 

The purpose of having to engage in counseling can be seen from the fact that it would be essential to establish a clear reproach through which to ensure that Brody is able to talk about his experiences. The main challenge that must be anticipated in achievement of this purpose is that Brody may find it hard in opening up in an environment that does not give him this space. Consequently, this reflects on the first phase, which would involve having to build a rapport with him as a way of trying to get a clear understanding of the challenges that he is facing from an individual perspective.

In a bid to moving forward after a relapse and/or resistance, the main action step that would be taken would involve having to hold brief with Melissa, who is a family friend but has been able to build a close relationship with Brody. The brief would seek to ensure that Melissa helps in trying to reach out to Brody as a way of trying to highlight that indeed he has a problem that ought to be handled effectively. Using this action plan may be of great advantage, as it would mean that Brody would develop the confidence that is expected considering that he will be in an environment with Melissa, who he trusts.

Phase Two Marker 

A marker that would be essential in highlighting that the careseeker is ready to move to the fourth phase can be seen from the fact that Brody would begin opening up to the possibility that indeed he has a major problem. That would mean that Brody would understand the value of having to accept the help that is being accorded to him while considering the fact that this would serve as a clear reproach through which to achieve best possible outcomes. Brody would find himself in a situation where it becomes much easier to accomplish a set out goal that maximizes on the best possible outcomes.

One of the key questions that would be essential to helping Brody gain perspective and forward progress would be:

Do you believe that your life would be able to change for the better in future? 

The question seeks to give Brody some form of hope in terms of his ability to change with the aim being towards achieving a better future for himself. By asking this question, Brody would find himself in a situation where it becomes much easier for him to build a rapport that goes beyond the confines of counseling towards ensuring that he is able to engage with some of the other individuals in his immediate social environments.
