In an era where news is primarily shared among society, media outlets are most important when it comes to the transmission of information. The media outlets have over 10 million users, viewers, and subscribers who follow the shared contents. Some of these outlets are owned by the same individual, and most of them tend to share some common synergy. The most influential media outlets include; CNN, MTV, ESPN, Vogue, and Forbes. All of these media outlets have significance to the public because of the have information they share.

Founded in 1980, Cable News Network (CNN) is an American pay television news channel which is owned by an AT & T’s division known as Turner Broadcasting System. CNN was the first television channel in the USA that provided its viewers with 24-hour news coverage. The headquarters of CNN are located in Atlanta with its primary broadcasting station at the Time Warner Center in New York City. Its other studios are in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. The Turner Broadcasting System also owns Turner Classic Movies and the Cartoon Network their availability depending on which country they are viewed from. MTV is also among the most viewed music television channels in the world. The media outlet was created on 1 st August 1981 through a collaboration of two companies the Warner Communication and Credit Card Company. The channel has become one of the most influential culture icons among the youth in the past ten years. Nickelodeon and The Movie Channel (TMC) are also owned by Viacom Media Networks (Creeber, 2015). MTV has been a launching platform for various music artists and it has also changed the way people conceive music.

Another media outlet that has many users is the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN). The sports television channel is based in Bristol, Connecticut and is owned by ESPN Inc. of which 20% is owned by Hearst Communications and the other 80% by The Walt Disney Company. In 1979, Bill Rasmussen alongside Ed Egan and his son Scot Rasmussen founded the ESPN Inc. company. The channel also has other operating offices in Charlotte, Miami, Seattle and New York City with its chairman as James Pitaro. Although ESPN has been criticized for biased coverage, it is one of the most successful sports networks across the globe. ESPN not only dominates the world of sports online but it also has six different channels that cover the sports genre with an average of 115 million viewers every month (Vogan, 2015). The media outlet remains the best and the most reliable sports franchise.

Vogue is another media outlet that is popular and famous as a women’s fashion magazine. Conde Nast Publications publishing house published first the magazine in 1982. Today Vogue is one of the world’s greatest magazines published in over 18 countries. Founded in 1892 by Arthur Turner, Vogue was a New York City’s magazine for the upper class (Benson & Whitaker, 2014). Nowadays, Vogue is worthy attention to all with its feature on lifestyle, society, and fashion. From its first issues, Vogue is a respectable and restrained fashionable world edition but not just a magazine that focuses on women’s fashion. Vogue is influential and a magazine that gives women some sense of fashion and beauty.

A well-known media outlet for rankings and lists is the Forbes magazine. Publishing bi-weekly basis, Forbes is an American business magazine which features marketing, finance, and investing topics. The magazine is owned by a Hong Kong-based investment group known as Integrated Whale media, with its CEO being Mike Federal and Steve Forbes as the editor-in-chief as well as the chair. The headquarters of Forbes is located in Jersey City. Forbes is popular for its lists of the world’s billionaires, richest Americans, and the world’s top companies. The magazine also has 15 other local language editions apart from Forbes Asia and Forbes life (Shin, 2014). Forbes is a good platform for gaining knowledge about the business world based on influential stories from the most successful people in the world.

Synergy means when two companies or more work in collaboration to benefit from what one of could not on their own. Most media organizations use synergy to expand their profits’ good example that uses synergy is the Comcast Corporation which ESPN among others and also controls CNN. Comcast allows cooperation without the public’s awareness in order to promote their products. Alice in the wonderland is a Disney movie that was promoted by ESPN and also CNN. Another synergy is when some magazines come together with a music industry to promote a song (Roux et al . 2016). An example of MTV and Vogue collaborating when Adele releases sky fall new single.
