Based on the IOM recommendations, nurses are expected to take the lead in their practice. One of the examples in which one has been able to deliver nursing practice, according to IOM, is by partnering with physicians and other health care professionals in redesigning the health system. One has identified issues, areas that the health care system is experiencing waste, tracking improvements, and offering recommendations that can be put in place to realize goals established in the organization Institute of ( Wood , 2010) . The achievement of the above mentioned was realized by serving actively on the healthcare advisory board, which are healthy to discuss how to advance health systems and improve care among the patients. Implementation of different programs was necessitated by leadership programs that one has been attending in different nursing practice levels. For instance, through mentorship programs, one acquired leadership values that comprise how one has to be responsible for personal and professional growth (Fitzpatrick, 2015). Lessons on exercising and developing leadership competencies were vital in acquiring the skills and knowledge fostered towards exercising my role of redesigning health care in collaboration with other professionals.
Secondly, one has also engaged in effective workforce planning and improvement of infrastructure in healthcare. Being part of nursing leadership has played a key role in improving the infrastructure required to collect and analyze data related to the needed nursing workforce in different regions. The IOM recommendation has facilitated how I engaged in systematic analysis and projection of the required workforce according to skills, demographics, and roles (Fitzpatrick, 2015). Through nursing education and practice, one has been able to help the health department in reviewing and coordinating the collection of data associated with the nursing workforce needs in different states and regions. For instance, one could recommend nurses' deployment according to their needs in various states, specifically based on specific health facilities' needs. Similarly, the IOM recommendation has helped foster healthcare infrastructure improvement in inpatient wards, emergency units, technology, and other basic requirements needed in healthcare ( Wood , 2010) . Hospitals are basic, and therefore, the nursing department needs to be updated regarding the number of staff required and other important infrastructure needed for success in health delivery.
