The MSN program has enhanced my long-term desire to become a family nurse and eventually serve the needs of family members. The program aims at instilling in nurses knowledge and discipline toward practicing the profession. A graduate MSN would be in a better position to offer holistic nursing services to the community in a professional manner. The nurse realizes that he or she cannot achieve the outcomes alone and must engage a team of other health professionals. Ethical competencies must also be exhibited in the performed work to avoid any misconduct. The eight weeks’ course has prepared me to meet various outcomes mainly the MSN essential VII, holistic health and patient-centered care, and nurse practitioner core competencies. 

The holistic health and patient-centered care outcome is concerned with the provision of high-quality care to the patient. I have learned that nursing is an art, science, and practice profession providing nursing services to a large number of people. The services that a nurse provides aim at facilitating the health of people in various settings thereby fulfilling the contract between the society and the profession (Stromberg, 2017). My primary interest as an MSN graduate is a human response to health, illness, and healing. As such, I will execute many roles in the course of providing safe and quality evidence-based nursing interventions. I respect the community I serve and recognize the potential of healing within the person, integration of the mind, body, as well as the spirit.

I value collaborative relationships with professionals delivering health care services as well as with the recipients of the provided health services. I have learned that a masters-prepared nurse is a member and leader of various inter-professional teams (Dossey, Keegan, Barrere, & Helming, 2015). The nurse works within the hospital setting comprising of various professionals such as physicians and clinicians. I will collaborate with the teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients and meeting set health objectives. Working in the teams calls for effective communication skills, ability to form interpersonal relationships with members in the team and outside as well as with patients (Peterson’s, 2016). The ability to exhibit teamwork, which involves sharing of information, collaboration, consulting where necessary, and coordinating care provision are all learning outcomes of the program. 

The MSN program has taught me to master the core competencies of nurse practitioners. The ethical competency is the ability to integrate ethical principles in decision-making. In my line of duty, I will encounter various ethical dilemmas. However, my ability to incorporate theory and establishing ethical solutions that are fulfilling to all parties is my role (Scott & Thompson, 2018). Besides, I will be able to evaluate the consequences of each decision holistically before settling on it. The MSN program has instilled in me the ability to solve complex ethical situations related to people, populations, and care systems. 

It is evident that the MSN program is a worthy course that has taught me various aspects aligned to the program outcomes. Upon graduation, I will provide quality evidence-based care to various populations while upholding holistic health principles. My communication and interpersonal skills will enhance my ability to work in diverse inter-professional teams, share information as well as consult where I encounter problems. Lastly, I can effectively handle complex ethical issues affecting different people in the community by integrating ethical principles in decision-making. I will always evaluate the consequences of my decision before settling and applying it to the situation.
