The course module has reinforced my thinking on the negative impact of population growth on the well being of people. The course made me realize that a rapidly growing population not only puts a strain on natural resources but also contributes to social unrest and interferes with the rights of individuals. Even in the highly developed nations that are characterized by low birth rates, social issues such as crime and inequality emerge with economic growth. Overall, I agree with the view that the approaches used by the government and private organizations to address global issues have a significant impact on the well being of the people. The course has reinforced my understanding that most of the global problems occur as a result of interactions and competing interests between governments and the private sector. Enacting proper solutions to these issues would require a collaborative approach geared towards policy making and the establishment of effective mitigation strategies.

Peer Response

Shonice, I agree with your view that the population impacts significantly on decision making and approaches to addressing global issues in today's world. Population growth depletes natural resources necessitating the need for efforts to control the booming population in different parts of the world. You have also highlighted a critical point, which is the fact that the government can make changes to the weather. Through the use of hygroscopic chemicals, for instance, governments can increase the amount of rainfall to address water shortage in various locations effectively. Your discussion post also highlights an essential argument that pollution is not in every country, which is not the case. I think that there is some form of pollution in every state only that the magnitude and impact differ. Lastly, your recommendation for addressing global issues by enhancing collaboration between governments and other stakeholders would help solve most social problems.
