I agree that the distinction between the illegal drugs and the legal drugs is illogical. The supposedly illegal drugs such as amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, heroin, benzodiazepines, and methadone have molecular compositions that are useful in achieving various pharmacological effects. While some people use these drugs to get high and recreation, other people use these drugs to manage certain conditions such as anxiety disorders, convulsions and stress disorders (Kilmer, Reuter & Giommoni, 2015). Other drugs which are viewed as illegal such as the opiates are also used to manage chronic pain that occurs during situations such as post-operation pain and breakage of bones.
Another reason that makes the comparison between illegal and legal drugs illogical is that the doctors are still prescribing these drugs for their patients. If the drugs were illegal, could the doctors be prescribing them for patients? The other factor that raises the question about this comparison is the fact that some of the some of these drugs that are considered illegal are incorporated into some products that are sold to people just like other items. For example, nicotine that is viewed to be illegal is sold to people in cigarettes, and the cigarettes are bought without any restriction (Kilmer, Reuter & Giommoni, 2015). If nicotine was considered to be illegal, why then is it that it is easily accessible and the government has not yet banned the use of such substances?

In some countries, the cultivation and selling of the drugs considered illegal have been accepted by the government and is even being regarded as one of the income sources of the countries. For example, marijuana in the United States has been legalized in Alaska. This raises the question whether the drug is legal or illegal since it is expected that the production of an illegal drug cannot be encouraged by the government (Kilmer, Reuter & Giommoni, 2015). Though the comparison may be illogical, the idea of drugs being illegal will still exist as long as people continue to abuse the drugs.
Binge drinking is a menace that colleges and universities should address. Students who are drunk engage in irresponsible behaviors such as sexual assaults and rape. Some of them injure the colleagues when drunk since they cannot make informed decisions when they are drunk. Some of the students end up being hurt when drunk since they are not aware of their surrounding (Samson & Tanner-Smith, 2015). Many students have been knocked down by vehicles when drank. Drinking alcohol has also made students to divert funds and resources meant for their education so that they can be able to access the alcohol. The alcohol problem has caused many students to miss lectures, miss examinations and finally perform poor in the exams (Samson & Tanner-Smith, 2015). Due to the drinking that happens while students are in colleges and universities, many students have ended up being also alcohol addicts to the point of them being admitted into rehabilitation centers. Some of the students also try to commit suicide when under the influence of alcohol (Samson & Tanner-Smith, 2015).
Though people say that taking a little amount of alcohol does not harm it is not true. It is true that students can take alcohol for recreation purposes and as a social way of interaction with their colleagues but the most significant challenge comes in when one tries to figure out which is the right amount. Most students start by taking just one bottle of alcohol, and as time passes, they become tolerant to the alcohol and increase the quantity to two or more. After some time, students find out that what started out as just a little amount has become so much. Therefore taking alcohol just for recreation is a danger since it can be the route to addiction. That drinking can be used as a get together especially for the students to catch up on various issues. It is just difficult, especially for students to draw a line between fun and overdrinking.
