Response to Valerie
The discussion accurately identifies two examples of regional international government organizations (IGOs) as the African Union and the Arab League. It also recognizes that regional IGOs facilitate better interactions among member states because they promote the interests of member states, find solutions to common problems, and increase efficiency. However, the discussion would have been more elaborate if it had further expounded on how regional IGOs facilitate better interactions. For instance, regional IGOs are located in almost the same region and are likely to have similar regional interests (Krampe & Mobjörk, 2018). They are more likely than global IGOs to engage in trade agreements that improve trade within the specific region.
Response to Courtney
I agree with the claim in the discussion, which identifies that the global civil society is not representative because it is dominated by the Western and Northern hemisphere organization. Organizations in the North and Western regions usually have stronger economic power, more members from their countries, and mostly advance their interests (Eilstrup, 2020). However, other marginalized groups are poorly represented and cannot advance their agenda. The result is that some countries are left out of various issues in global discussions.
