Freire believes that humanization and dehumanization are two fundamental aspects or alternatives that society has to deal with. The transition from humanization to dehumanization principally occurs as a result of oppression, exploitation, injustice, and the action of the oppressors. Therefore, on a broader perspective, a dehumanizing society is composed of the oppressors and the oppressed. However, due to the "yearning of the oppressed for freedom and justice, and by their struggle to recover their lost humanity," the third group of individuals could be described as the liberators (Freire, 2018, p. 1). I feel that Freire’s structure of struggle and freedom hinges on the need to restore a sense of humanity on the society by leveraging justice and fairness among other significant virtues.
Latin America continues to grapple with a host of problems ranging from inequality, distribution of resources, and pseudo-independence. Countries such as Venezuela are experiencing political crisis and instability which goes hand in hand with Freire's model of the oppressors and the oppressed. The corrupt political class which represents the oppressors is hell-bent to drain the resources of the country leading to the suffering of the citizens (oppressed). Therefore, liberation-the restoration of humanity can only be found when opposition groups, civil groups, and the international community comes to the aid of these countries.

From an educational point of view, learning the issues related to Latin America has primarily been a huge success. The learning materials and tools such as the internet have equipped me in understanding the international problems affecting various parts of the world. The class conversation has also boosted my knowledge and provided me with background knowledge prior to assessing the research materials. Therefore, a clear analysis would only be given if theoretical and conceptual bases are applied as seen in the case of Freire who seeks to analyze the position of the oppressors, oppressed, and the potential liberators.
