Ethnography of Undocumented Mothering
The Lesson from the Student Literature Review
The main lesson driven by the paper is that undocumented immigrant mothers have numerous and deeply entrenched psychological problems and economic problems threatened by the deportation move.
Theoretical Focus
The paper employs the model developed by Patricia Hill Collins that outlines the segregation of people in the society based on their race, gender, and class.

Concept and Data Analysis
The review paper employed interview and casual conversation as the primary source of information. The paper has built largely on the concept of inter-sectionalism whereby the interviewees were noted to fall into various categories based on the gender, age, race, and origin. The review has used the testimony from ester (a 48-year-old Mexican) to generalize the plight of undocumented mothers faced with the threat of deportation.
Major Findings
The main finding is that mothers are threatened economically and socially by the deportation move and as such should be carefully considered.
Most Impressive Position
I find the paper enlightening on the subject of the plight of the undocumented mothers. By stressing the fact that the legislators and other policymakers are not impressed with the awful experience, they get the undocumented mothers to go through; the paper scolds such minds and reproves them to consider the plight of the undocumented mothers before they pass such legislation.
Stigmatization of Muslim Women in a Multicultural Society
The Lesson from the Student Literature Review
The main cause of stigmatization is the media, which continues to spread generalizing information on the Muslim culture. The innocent members of the Muslim community have to bear the consequences of such statements by the media.
Theoretical Focus
The paper bases its arguments on Goffman’s theory of self-presentation to point out the adaptive measures taken by the Muslim community to deal with the issue of stigmatization.
Concept and Data Analysis
The research employed the use of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews coupled with the attendance of social gatherings to note and record observations.
Major Findings
Muslim women employ strategies such as living with stigma or developing a resistance and resilience attitude.
Most Impressive Position
The most impressive idea in this paper is the role of the mass media in disseminating information that can lead to the stigmatization of a whole community and even endanger the culture of the community affected. The media as a powerful information tool and should be employed wisely to spread meaningful and accurate information when necessary. Measures should be put in place to ensure that the information released by the media is accurate.
Reflection
The research papers are very simple regarding content and depth. This notwithstanding, the papers are educative and help in creating awareness. However, the papers should have used accounts from several research participants as opposed to the use of one witness. The two papers can be combined to address not only the plight of immigrant women in the American community but also the plight of immigrant Muslim women in the American society especially now that there are threats of possible deportation.
