Examine the political differences between young people and older adults. What might account for these differences? Describe the impact of these differences on democracy in the United States.
Young people’s perception of politics differs with that of the old people. There are complaints that young people are not sufficiently engaged in politics. Factors attributed to the inadequate participation in politics include laziness and negative attitude (Krutz, 2018). Also life cycle and generational effects among young people have developed the negative attitude towards politics. This is because young people have few limited responsibility that would encourage them to participate in politics. Also the emergence of new forms such as social media have diverted youths from traditional forms of political participation as compared to the older people. Consequently, this has led to resulted in lack of respect for the traditions and seniority of the elder population. These differences have been felt in the democracy of the country particularly voting. Youths are less likely to take part in the election process as well as actual voting.

It has been said that the United States is in the middle of a "culture war". Explain what this refers to and delineate arguments for and against the existence of a culture war. Which set of arguments do you find most convincing and why?
At its core, America’s culture war refers to the conflicts that exist between traditionalists and conservatives. The culture war sets apart traditionalists from liberalist. The American culture war traces its roots in the civil war. Precursors of the modern war include modernist controversies that exist among a myriad of issues in the 21 st century (Hunter, 2018). Elections, in the United States, for instance, have been pivotal for the long-running culture war. Of the fundamental issues is the extent to which Americans want to preserve their core institutions. The existence of a culture war is convincing because at the moment conservatives have lost on issues such as marriage equality, gay marriages and even immigration. These are some of the issues that the country is divided on.
Evaluate how much political and ruling power our Founders might originally have intended to bestow upon the new United States government. Has the structure created by the founders allowed a necessary increase in the power of the state on behalf of the needs of the people (think Great Depression), or has it impermissibly expanded the role of government leading to an extinguishing of our liberties (think Tea Party), or some combination of the two? Explain.
The founding fathers were faced with the same issues regarding power as today. The original 13 states had sovereign power. The federal government was concerned with national authority but had little power on taxes and commerce disputes between states. Today there are fights about power and who should exercise it. Adherents of the Tea Party and conservative republicans argue that the federal government has exceed the limits of power exercise bestowed upon them by the Founding Fathers (Stephens, 2016). The founders were responding to aversion that may occur as a result of the federal government exercising too much authority.
4. Compare the advantages and disadvantages to democracy under a federal system. If you were drafting the Constitution today, would you opt to choose the system of federalism we have today or would you rather try a more consolidated and unitary form of government? Explain.
The advantages of democracy under a federal system include promotion of policy innovation, political participation, and accommodation of diverse opinions. Another advantage is with the two levels of government, people can successfully elect other representatives (Krutz, 2018). This has helped shape public policy. The drawbacks of federalism include economic setback between one races to another. Based on the above benefits and drawbacks I would still choose the federal system. The benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The only difference I would make is in power distribution and its exercise.
