We all have that one person who has been an inspiration to us, and for me, it has been my mother. Not only did she take responsibility for raising me up in an upright manner, but she also natured me, understood my interests and made sure she supported me in my inspirations. All my life, I have had a great interest in computer and art, but for many young people, their childhood interests were never realized probably because of mentorship, role models, advice, and support. But my mum despite not having the best life filled this role by dedicating her time anytime that she could, struggled to ensure that I had all the necessary materials and later on hired a private art teacher for me.
It is only after several years that I came to realize how much influence she had on me. Her persistence and perseverance have seen her bravery overcome her challenges, but even in the face of adversity she put always put on a happy face and shielded my siblings and me from her pains. It is through her that I have learned to move on after a failure and not to let it define myself. When I was 8, she lost her job, and as a result, we lost our house because of mortgage that she had taken a year earlier. While we moved neighborhoods and had to live within her friend's house, she did odd jobs and worked odd hours to ensure that I continued with my art lessons and six months later she bought me my first laptop just to safeguard my aspirations were never halted because of her being fired. She never gives up spirit is what ensured that two years later we had a house of our own again.
