What is a Disciple

A true disciple is anyone who has calculated the cost of following Christ, is devoted, fulfills God's will and considers others in their deeds. They must be ready to persevere many challenges in the process of spreading the gospel, an example set by Jesus when he decided to die for our sins. Sacrifice -from the scriptures as in Luke 14:33 and 14:23, a follower of Christ is someone willing to sacrifice their possession and life and incur the cost of salvation. 1 . Relational -from the Scriptures, as in Luke 14:26, a faithful follower of Christ is someone who has a pure heart in terms of love and commitment to Jesus Christ and others. Transformation -from the scriptures, a follower of Jesus should understand that spiritual growth aims to emulate Jesus in thought, action, word, and attitude. After Jesus was crucified, all his disciples lost hope since they believed that Jesus would deliver them from the Roman oppression. Through the miracles and influence of Jesus in their lives, they saw greater things in the future. The disciple's motivation to continue the gospel was affected, thus overwhelmed with fear and doubted; therefore, some of the disciples went into hiding. Some of them, like Mathew, decided they'll go back to their previous job o tax collection, while others chose to go back to fishing. This context forms a basis o who a disciple is and what it means to be one.

What is Discipleship

After Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples were left in confusion as Jesus told them to continue with the mission of bringing more people to salvation but had to wait for the holy spirit. After e40days o praying, they received the holy spirit. Thus they were able to spread the gospel fearlessly across many countries. Discipleship involves educating of the goodness of Christ and winning hearts to Christ through sermons, leading by example and teachings. Discipleship requires one to love God with all their hearts as in Mathew 23:36-40 and show it through commitment and bringing more disciples to the church. The intentional process of discipleship is purely based on the love that one has for God, their believers and other people. The church that loves God can overcome all obstacles in spreading the gospel. The church should become intentional in developing individuals with a genuine love for God, believers, and other people since God's love for humanity motivated him to sacrifice His beloved son. Individual -As in Colossians 1:28 and Ephesians 4:11-16, a pastor should equip the saints well to perform the task o service and be spiritually mature. The church is like the body of Christ, where each part should function individually as to when one part is unfunctional, there will lack growth. The church growth-dependent on developing and growing quality disciples who lead by example 2 . The missional form is where the church has the mission to spread the gospel globally by sufficiently preparing disciples. The task is to reach many through discipleship.

Growth and Group

Discipleship is based on love where one’s heart has to be pure in their deeds and commitment to the commission of Christ. But to achieve the goal of discipleship, a collaboration between disciples is crucial as they can share ideas on how to win more soles to Christ 3 . I would encourage my fellow Christians to join me for Bible studies and evening fellowships where we can together grow spiritually. Since we share salvation in common, we can use various scriptures, such as love, your neighbor, as much as yourself, to connect through Christ. To achieve the commission of Christ, we can come together and hold crusades together where we help each other teach the gospel of Christ using various methods such as parables in church or public places. Also, we can divide ourselves where each one of us conducts door-to-door visits within our neighborhoods to teach others and bring more people to the church.
