The paper explores into my nursing philosophy that I look forward to conveying in my professional work. I hold it that nursing is deeply ingrained in one’s dedication to communal work and service with the deep aspiration to assist those who require help. Butts and Rich (2013) argued that n ursing goes beyond the concept of diagnosis, treatment, prescription of drugs and caring for patients. Tanaka, Hasegawa, Nagayama & Oe (2018) affirmed that i t is primarily focused on the provision of the best patient care in accordance with an individual’s needs. My philosophical perspective and stand integrates the technical-know-how of medication and at the same time fuses it with compassionate and rational caring that upholds a patient’s dignity. An important aspect of the profession of nursing involves collaborative determinations within and among healthcare experts in the promotion of the best health care service. My philosophy regarding nursing goes beyond my communal responsibility in promoting health; it is something I look forward to greatly.
Scope
From an early age, while formulating my career prospects, I have often had a deep longing desire to look after those who need help. It is often a feeling that has often led me to make nursing my deepest desires. I do have a feeling of satisfaction while providing my professional skills in caring for others. In fact, my personal approach is primarily focused on service and compassion. Joanne de Guia-Royas argues that “Active participations with others are needed to provide compassionate and ethical patient care in a healing environment” ( Nursing theory) Quality care for patients requires reciprocity with those whom nurses can professionally identify with. Collaboration is a moral that reinforces the commitment to the common goal of a patient’s welfare. According to Butts and Rich (2013) a p hilosophy entails an examination into the prospects and conceptions that express fundamental personal principles and theories. Before I gave my all into the profession, I did take my time to look into my personal tenets and doctrines that would show me the best way to nursing as a health care practice. My philosophical perception of nursing integrates the know-how of medical service and combines it with compassionate and rational care towards respecting patient’s dignity. My philosophy no doubt puts more emphasis on empowering patients’ towards holistic care. Cecilia Bexter argues that holistic care “addresses four things; society, environment, the recipient of nursing care, and the interaction between society, person and the environment.” This paper looks into the principles I deem mandatory in relation to patient’s well-being in healthcare in relation to my personal engagement ethics and the society in totality.

Analysis
Nursing cannot be put into or defined in a single phrase. It goes beyond a profession, more than the administration of medication, rather nursing denotes to an arrangement of service and care to others having an evolution of its own. I consider nursing as a “calling.” As a calling, Reed and Shearer (2017) noted that nursing revolves around personal commitment and dedication to others with the undesirable need to forget about oneself and dedicate to others. It is my philosophical perspective that important aspects of the profession of nursing entail disease prevention, treatment in addition to the promotion of good health. Above all, it is about caring for patients. According to Alligood (2013) c aring recognizes the importance of patients, an aspect that establishes care as the primary focus. I deeply hold it that caring is not conjoined with nursing but the two concepts are one since nursing would be hollow with the caring aspect. The characteristic of nursing upholds respect for the patients in addition to upholding human dignity.
It is no doubt that nursing is deeply into science as medical know-how. It is the ultimate objective within nursing towards disease prevention and treatment of illness. They form the basis of medical knowledge towards making nursing a caring profession. Butts and Rich (2013) posit that t he medical profession is often revolving and changing towards the better thus calling upon nurses to keep abreast with the latest information and practical knowledge. Patient Care and Nursing
Concerning patient care and nursing, my philosophical position focuses more on patient-centered care, holistic, and compassionate relationship. Reed and Shearer (2017) and Dahnke and Dreher (2015) maintained that a holistic perspective provides the patient with the opportunity to connect with the nurse thus separating physician care from the nursing concept of care. Silva and Rothbart (2015) argue that h olism entails researching and coming to terms with the links of a persons’ spiritual concept in addition to the recognition the entity is more important as compared to its sum total. This denotes to the fact that it only concerns with the patient’s well-being and is also connected with the emotional, mental, and spiritual being. According to Megan McGaham patient care is “rooted in a commitment to public service and the undeniable desire to help those in need. Nursing is more than treating an illness; rather it is focused on delivering quality care that is individualized to the needs of each patient.”
Nurses have a deep concern with a patient’s well-being and that comfort entails the central aspect of a patient’s needs. Thus, it is an indispensable part of nursing as a holistic standard of care. According to Huston (2013) and Shea, Reimer ‐ Kirkham and Cavan Frisch (2018) p atients having the best of care and comfort often heal better as compared to patients lacking comfort. As a nurse, it is my responsibility to ensure that the patient’s comfort is a priority in addition to their emotional and mental state. It is my focus and chief aim to take good care of a patient’s needs and requirements. I hold it that it is a vital component towards holistic recovery and gaining back good health and as Vnessa Morton upholds, patient care “reveals the tremendous evolution I have made from the role of a registered nurse into the role of an advanced practice nurse practitioner. As I continue to advance my career, my ethics associated with a diverse patient population, the environment, and the role of a professional nurse practitioner, will progress with me” ( Alligood 2013). Patients do have the right to know about their healthcare status and I do believe that I will build a good caring relationship with them in order to meet their requirements while under my care.
Knowing in the Nursing Profession
According to Silva and Rothbart (2015) t here are four critical patterns and aspects of knowing; ethical knowing, empirical knowing, aesthetic knowing and personal knowing. Another fifth knowing is sociopolitical knowing. My focus within the nursing practice is primarily aimed at empirical principles of knowing. This will make up my personal philosophy within my dedication work and commitment to holistic practice. Thus my existentialism and curriculum will match my nursing philosophy. According to Butts and Rich (2013) and Alligood (2014) e xistentialism and curriculum focus more on the freedom to choosing from numerous learning situations. I will no doubt endeavor to go after the knowledge I look forward to upholding and possessing.
Due to this liking of knowledge improvement, I am often distrustful of interventions lacking in measurable evidence and objectivity. According to Tanaka, Hasegawa, Nagayama and Oe (2018) e thical knowing is no doubt apprehensive with the moral aspects, goals, and beliefs. I espouse my standing to be upheld and founded within the Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics. I look forward to constantly improving my values towards bettering my patient’s well-being. Silva and Rothbart (2015) posit that p ersonal knowing is deriving from the holistic awareness of one’s principles, values, and ethos. To improve on the same, I often engage in reflective endeavors where I scrutinize my interpersonal relationship with the aim of enhancing my practice. I endeavor towards establishing an authentic relationship with my patients in addition to all within the field of healthcare service delivery. It is often my focus to hear my patient’s opinion about my dedication towards their healing.
Similarly, as upheld by Huston (2013) aesthetic knowing gives me the opportunity to go after possibilities I deem creative and necessary towards contributing to my education, training, and well-being towards health care service delivery. As a clinician, I look forward to integrating aesthetic knowing and conceptual knowledge for the good of upholding my practical and theoretical knowledge in nursing practice. This will enable me to establish a caring that is built on Watson’s Caring theory that is comprised of transpersonal caring relationship, Curative factor and caring moments. Curative factors do entail emotional, human and spiritual care providing factors in addition to clinical care aspects and meshed care (Watson, 2008). Under caring I will foster to put emphasis on the patient spending time with the family members to enhance their transformative caring moments. Although this is a challenging phenomenon as I deem it unfit with my nursing philosophy, I will try my best to integrate all my principles and values towards creating a balanced scenario.
Establishing and Increasing my Nursing Knowledge
I want to create a close attachment to nursing as a practice that can help me strengthen the link between practice and research. While it is easy to be removed from the nursing world, it is not easy to remove the nursing philosophy from me. My research will entail building on existing knowledge, undertaking appropriate research and meeting the demands of good ethical practice. I no doubt enjoy going after solving problems. I will endeavor towards opening up avenues for pragmatic inquiry in addition to engaging my fellow nursing professionals and patients if need be within my working line. My philosophy will be a blend between holistic patient care and the use of caring factors and nursing knowledge in which knowledge will constitute the framework upon which patient care is based. The theory will be based on the premise that for satisfactory patient care, knowledge based criteria must form the underlying factor and concept upon which the patient will be cared for while under my watch.
Conclusion
I am excited about my future career in nursing. I have developed confidence in articulating my philosophical beliefs and met paradigm and areas in which knowledge affirms practice. I have established a good sense of desire towards integrating my knowledge in nursing with practical aspects of the same. I have the view and strong belief that I will continue learning each day and sharing my knowledge with others. Improving patient’s knowledge is critical towards achieving a holistic perception concerning good health. The ideology of patient-centered care is a concept that I hold onto dearly. I will endeavor to devote myself to meeting the above ethical concerns in addition to achieving my personal well-being. I will stand as an advocate of my patient’s at all times with the primary objective of representing their needs and requirements.
