My Name is Mary and today I am going to talk about relationship Vs. Single. As a person, I strongly support relationship over being single and I will be explaining to you why.

The Case: It is commonly accepted that strong relationships can shape one into becoming a better person. It is also true to state that one cannot separate relationship with influence. Today, experts argue that as humans, we all have different strengths, ranging from physical, emotional, mentally to psychological strength. We cannot deny the fact that each of us was designed to need or to be of help to one another. This gives us enough reason to form relationship. On the contrary, those who are of the opposing opinion argue that not all people have the ability to bond. They also argue that one can survive and achieve their outmost dreams without necessarily being in a relationship. Besides, studies have also shown that sometimes relationship can bring harm than good.

Discussion

Fact 1: Being single or opting to be in a relationship is a matter of choice. From ancient times to the contemporary society, there has always been a controversial discussion between being single and having a relationship. However, from the biblical allusion, there is an indication that God wanted people to reproduce and fill the world, a situation that can just be made possible when people are in a relationship (Girme et al., 2016). Therefore, for the world to develop economically and socially people must get into relationships, get married and give birth to increase the population. This population will be available for continuity, providing the needed labor and other relevant expertise in the world.

Testimony: Based on my opinion, being in a relationship is one of the best decisions that a person can always make in life (Day, 2016). This is based on the fact that if one is in a relationship, they will have someone with whom they can share their feelings and thoughts especially when undergoing tough times. Their partners will always stand by them as you try and reason out together for solutions hence making it easy to sail through. Furthermore, being in a relationship tends to improves one’s quality of life (Day, 2016). The implication is that people who have proved to be in a healthy relationship are happier, fit and mentally healthy because they always make better decisions as two people.

In most cases, people who are single have the perception that their choice of not having a lover is the best life ever. On the other hand, those who are in a relationship strongly believe that sharing life experiences with someone who you are in love with is the best thing. However, I strongly believe that being in a relationship is a great experience since it grants one the opportunity to share life experiences with that one special person (Christine, 2011). The assertion is that when one shares what they undergo in life with that one special person, one will tend to become better in person, mentally, emotionally and psychologically hence adding more value to their lives as compared to their single counterparts who often find themselves lonely.

Example: There are various examples in real life situation that can be used to give a justification that staying in a relationship is one of the best choices that a person can make in life (González-Ramírez et al., 2017). Barack Obama can be used as a perfect example of people who have chosen to be in a relationship and experienced true happiness as the outcome. The duo has always been considered as one of the power couples because they have managed to raise a family out of a relationship that can be used as a point of reference in most family affair discussions. Notably, Barack Obama as the president of the United States mentioned in his speeches on several occasions that his family and wife, in particular, was one of the sources of his inspiration that contributed towards his success. Michelle as the wife offered a helping hand to her husband majorly during the campaign periods. The relationship led to the birth of two daughters to whom the family and various personalities across the world saw as a source of inspiration.

Studies

According to Busch and Kapusta (2017), being in a relationship tends to justify the saying that two is better than one. Such people will always experience all the fun and undertake their duties as a single entity. For instance, A study carried out on spouses with Alzheimer’s disease showed that couples who rated their marriage being strong as well as satisfying experienced less depression (Christine, 2011). Busch, and Kapusta further point out that once there is a relationship undertaking duties will be easier with time because it will lead to the formation of a family. When people are many in the family, the concept of labor division is easy to enhance hence reducing the burden of undertaking all duties alone like in the case of single people (Busch, & Kapusta, 2017). The advantages that are associated with being in a relationship outweigh the disadvantages, and this explains why the percentage of people in relationships is many when compared to people who are single across the globe.

Day (2016) points out that relationships are perceived to come with its downsides, but most people see the worthiness of going through the hard times with the intention of reaping the benefits that come with love. From the factual sheets, there is an indication that “falling in love is like being on drugs.” According to Day (2016) , the implication is that the euphoria that people feel when they fall in love is the same feeling that drug addicts experience while using drugs since both actions triggers the same hormones (Day, 2016). Most of the young couples have always benefited out of a healthy relationship because their personality will be shaped. Based on scientific research, people who get in relationship develop self-confidence, and a sense of optimism settles in them because they will always hope for a better future regardless of the situation (Rapaport et al., 2018). Honesty is essential to a successful relationship. In this line, people will always strive to be honest in all aspects of life because they come to learn that for an intention to succeed, people must always embrace honesty.

In a nutshell, people must always make a well-calculated move in choosing between remaining single or having a relationship. This is because both options have its cons and pros. However, although being single or having a relationship always has an unending debate, I would strongly suggest that it is best for one to be in a relationship, it is the only way you will discover the beauty of true love among other things.
