The dilemma surrounding the use of marijuana is not only a hot debate in North Carolina State, specifically Hickory NC town, but it is a puzzle in every state in the USA. The bone of contention herein is solely based on related ethical matters. In comparison, people fail to quantify and weigh the associated pros and cons of the drug to get a clear conclusion. As much as marijuana addiction has far-reaching demerits to human health, it is suitable when used as painkillers in hospitals ethically, especially in surgeries.

Drug addiction is not acceptable because it has adverse effects on the users. Its abuse becomes evident in a situation when people would want to use it for the purpose other than medical attention. For example, in a condition when an individual would like to use marijuana without the prescription of a doctor, it is a case of abuse. On the hand, its usefulness is of no doubt since it has been prescribed as the best option painkiller for surgeries or in individuals who undergo medical attention to relieve them of pain ( Quinn, 2016) . However, the ethical dilemma arises where doctors may seize the chance to sell marijuana for cash rather than sticking to the program of medication.

In summary, marijuana is useful when solely used in medication. It has been proved to be a perfect pain reliever no doubt. It is on this basis that several states across the USA have decriminalized some aspects of it. However, some people still hold a negative perspective on marijuana regardless of the valuable medical element. Therefore, if both doctors and citizens can enhance proper regulations and ethics, then marijuana would be considered as one of the undisputable drugs usable in surgeries as a painkiller.
