Rapport and Relational Alignment
The relationship that Brody has developed with Melissa, who is his mother’s friend, provides him with an avenue through which to express his confidence while ensuring that he is able to control his emotions. To help build on a relationship with Brody, the student counselor will seek to establish clear goals that would help in reducing emotional disturbance(s) while working towards building a supportive relationship (Petersen, 2015). In the case of Brody, this would be important towards ensuring that he talks about his life, especially with regard to the relationship that he has created with Melissa. The goal is trying to create an avenue through which Brody is able to deal with emotional balance. That can be supported through the Word of God on Amos 3:3, which says that, “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?”

Supportive Feedback Break
One of the key challenge that is likely to arise from this phase of the scenario is on resistance and/or relapse. Supportive feedback allows for transformative change taking into account that the transformation does not occur easily during the course of counseling (Carbonell, 2008). In the case of Brody, the main intention is working towards creating a solution-focused pastoral counseling that would help in creating the principles that govern his transformation. It would be essential for Brody to receive feedback at every stage of counseling, which would maximize on his ability to deal with emotions. Brody will develop a sense of confidence that would create a standard through which to improve on his ability to connect and interact with others within his social environment.
Phase Two Marker
Brody would need to understand that indeed he is facing a key problem with regard to his self-confidence attributed to a clear lack of relationship with his father. When compared to his brother, Josh, Brody shows a key challenge in terms of his failure to get the necessary attention from his father. That is a marker that would be considered as part of the counseling process considering that this has had serious implications on his capacity to develop the expected levels of confidence.

Brody is a young man, who is facing a key challenge in trying to build on his self-confidence. That can be attributed to the fact that he has not been able to develop the expected relationship with his father, which has had serious implications on his confidence. It is possible that Brody has other emotional problems that are affecting his emotional balance but keeps on blaming this on his inability to create a relationship with his father. The main intention of having to consider counseling would seek to ensure that Brody is able to get the answers that he seeks with regard to his ability to build on his confidence.
