When comparing and contrasting the top survey responses from the class to those listed by the Kaiser Family Foundation, it is evident that majority of Americans from the Kaiser Family Foundation and the class survey findings favor lowering the amount individuals pay for healthcare. In both surveys, decreasing the amount the federal government spends on healthcare was the least favorable outcome, although in the Kaiser Family Foundation the results varied when Democrats, Independents, and Republicans were called into question separately. According to the top-ten class survey responses, both decreasing the role of government in healthcare and decreasing the amount the federal government spends on healthcare received one vote each which represents 2% each. However, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation survey report, both had 35% vote which is substantially higher than the class survey (KFF, 2017). Additionally, the class survey did not question people on the basis of political parties while the Kaiser Family Foundation did.

The U.S. life expectancy and health outcomes are not the best despite spending more on healthcare. One main reason is the overdose of drugs. According to a report published by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), there has been a steady increase in the number of deaths caused by drug overdose in the United States since 1999 (Hedegaard, Warner, & Miniño, 2017). The researchers cited the easy availability of drugs in the country as the main reason. Additionally, the researchers claim that these drugs may be prescription drugs or illegal drugs. Drugs like opioids, when overdosed slows or halts breathing which eventually may lead to death. Other drugs such as cocaine and heroin can cause severe cardiac arrest which may result in death. Even though the United States spends more on healthcare, causes of death like drug overdose can only be managed through prevention and control management through facilities such as rehabilitation centers.

Lastly, there exists similarities and differences between approaches to health promotion in Healthy People 2020 and the UN Goals for Sustainable Development. Both approaches have promoted good health and well-being of people which includes educating people on healthy living (Healthy People, 2010). In both approaches, proper sanitation of the environment has been advocated for the promotion of better health. However, the UN Goals for Sustainable Development include objectives such as the promotion of gender equality and the elimination of poverty, both of which are not mentioned in the Healthy People 2020 objectives (United Nations, 2015). The Healthy People 2020 objectives are more focused on the health and well-being of people while the UN Goals for Sustainable Development objectives are all rounded.
