After starting the literature class, a number of readings have resonated with me. As a result here was the development of a certain kind of connection with the readings that have different impacts on the daily life and the way of seeing life. All the reading of the week were great and touching and but one turned out to be more catchy, this was "Someone Else's Shoes" by Caela Anne Provost.
In this reading, we meet one girl by the name Vera who lives in Vermont with her adoptive family and has one close friend called Atticus. She loved so much by everyone around her, but still feels as though something is lacking in her life. During her sixteenth birthday, she gains this part which she felt was absent. All over a sudden Vera can feel and hear every single thought of the individuals surrounding her, thus making her capable of getting into someone else's shoes (Provost, 2016). This makes her understand others well and their need before rushing to judge since she develops empathy.

There is one thing about the American literature; these are aspects which I consider to be the most important characteristics that distinguish the American literature itself. The first thing is that the American literature goes out to expound and reflect on the traditions and beliefs of the earlier times of the nation. There is the pioneering of the independence and self-reliance ideas which tend to show up all through the American literature. Almost all the authors have a great passion and respect towards the importance and value of an individual and tribe among others. This can be seen in the way they reject authority thus emphasizing equality and democracy of the people. Often, they celebrate nature as well as the sense of having a boundless space all to renew the world ( Porter & Roemer, 2012). The greatest thing about the American literature is about its willingness of breaking the trends thus challenging cultural stereotypes or norms.
American authors are creative and aware of their purpose in the marketing of the American literature. One author, Sherman Alexie, is capable of providing a glimpse of the early 21 st century of the American literature class of the future. This writer can bring out the social life of the Americans thus bringing out the cultural identity and social reality which are always pervading in the livelihoods of humans.
