The quote that would be used in this paper is hate ship. It is evident from the begging of the story that the author portrays the theme of hatred. In most cases, Ken, the father of Sabitha, was leaving in poverty and frequently pleading with his father-in-law for money. As such, he used to hate his lifestyle and blamed his wife for those challenges he was facing. Also, when Sabitha and Edith were playing that game of love, it is certain that each one of them did not want to see the other succeed by falling in love. At the end of the story when Edith found out that Ken and Johanna were married, she becomes very jealous since that was not their plan. In that light, most of the characters were very selfish and had evil intention.

The relationship of one character in the novel is likely to affect another. The action of Sabitha and Edith of hoaxing a letter to Johanna led to them getting married. Although, that it was not their intention, the two people should have been clear from the beginning. Also, it is evident that Sabitha did not want to see his father succeed in life as she was in a position of helping him. When Ken was sick, Sabitha did not go to visit him, yet he knew about his father condition. It was Johanna who spends her little saving to go and take care of Ken. Such actions show how Sabitha hated her father. On the other hand, Ken did not care about his daughter affairs as he was busy asking for money from his father-in-law.
