Ethics in nursing is something fundamental. As a competent nurse researcher, one needs to uphold all the required ethical principles at all times. The researchers need to always conduct their work without including any dubious ways that will raise question marks from the media and other stakeholders. After going through the simulation activity, I will play the role of the principal investigator Dr. Richard Sowers and the clinical research coordinator Jan Klein.
The principal investigator in this particular case was Dr. Sowers. Dr. Sowers is the individual that is in charge of ensuring that the research work is handled in the manner in which it's for the best interest of the patients and the clinic. Jan Klein, on the other hand, is in charge of coordinating the research (US Health Department, 2019). From the simulation, we can learn about several ethical principles in research. Its ethically correct for the researchers to ensure that they always do good whenever handling new topics. Also, the researchers need to have the consent of all the potential participants taking part in the research process. When the participants know what is going on, it becomes easy hence a smooth research process.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Ethics in research is not that clear cut. There are several grey areas in ethical research. These grey areas always come down to the individual's preference of something over the other. The researchers have a choice to either do the right or the wrong thing. From this particular simulation activity, the principal investigator had a choice to do the right thing but instead went ahead and pressured the research coordinator to falsify data as well as violating the protocols of the studies. The research coordinator, on the other hand, had a choice to deny doing the wrong thing but instead went ahead to do what's the principal investigator wanted.
