The roles of nurses that engage in active participation in the community healthcare services include healthcare promotion and disease alleviation. Also, the alleviation of disability and the provision of care concerning injury prevention define the essential role of a community health nurse (DeMarco & Healey-Walsh, 2016). In view of the public health essentials corporate reports such as the QSEN, and IOM Reports, it is quite imperative to note that the perspective of community healthcare, especially with regards to the role of a nurse, needs to focus on advancing the healthcare systems and competencies of nursing professionals across all nations. However, the paper describes the role of a community health nurse as it relates to QSEN and IOM Reports.

Ideally, the QSEN and IOM Reports focuses on ensuring that the healthcare industry becomes one of the most competitive professions that is sufficiently endowed with competent professionals. Hence, the role of a community health nurse defines the future of nursing and the leading change based on quality education and relevant competencies (Bigi & Bocci, 2017). A community health nurse is supposed to be involved in the promotion of health in the community through an assessment of the entire needs of the population within a communal setting. In this connection, an assessment needs to be conducted using systematic approaches that require advanced professional competence in a bid to determine the risk of an illness or healthcare concern in general.

Another essential role of a community health nurse that relates to QSEN and IOM Reports is based on the fact that nurses are involved in the improvement of conditions both in the social and physical environment in the community. Nurses take part in the identification and articulation of what causes illness or adverse healthcare concerns in communities. QSEN, and IOM Reports advocate for the effective and equitable implementation of plans and policies that outline the management of community healthcare (DeMarco & Healey-Walsh, 2016). In this regard, community health nurses need to carry out a series of assessments with the objective of determining the extent to which the healthcare policies and plans will impact the lifestyle of the communities and its environs. Given the concern of meeting the demands of universal and community healthcare, especially in the context of reforming the community health programs, nurses need to engage in the rehabilitation of illness disability actively.

The rehabilitation of illness disability requires a higher degree of professional competency that concurs with the provision and guidelines as envisaged the QSEN, and IOM Reports. Hence, it is a fundamental obligation for a community health nurse to be held accountable in matters of the contributions of enhancing quality healthcare programs and services in communities (Bigi & Bocci, 2017). A community health nurse is also mandated to promote and protect the healthy population in the communities, and this involves the identification of the sub-populations and families who may be at a higher risk of illness or disease infection.

The QSEN and IOM Reports provide comprehensive information regarding the solutions that community health nurses need to be acquainted with the provisions and solutions in a bid to offer quality services in all aspects of biological, physical, and the social environment in the communities (DeMarco & Healey-Walsh, 2016). In this context, the engagement in the planning programs and policy change intervention give community health nurses a solid foundation for the implementation of better health outcomes in the communities.

In conclusion, it is quite imperative to note that the role of a community health nurse as it relates to QSEN, and IOM Reports is an essential component for achieving a sustainable and quality health nursing in the communities. Ultimately, the role of a community health nurse role establishes an affirmative platform for assessing the entire population needs in the communities and finding the requisite medication for injuries and illness.
