In the Ted Talk, Burroughs notes that people face various ethical issues in their daily lives. One example that he provides is the dilemma involved by a student regarding choosing between loyalty or ending a long friendship. In this case, the friend could have begun to adopt certain undesirable behavior, which might not be in tandem with the ethical values that the student dearly holds. Most of us usually find ourselves in such situations especially if we have been in long term friendship relationships. Similarly, couples may also find themselves in very tight ethical dilemmas; for example, if a partner is involved in drug trafficking, and the other partner knows it is wrong, and consequently contemplates about reporting to the relevant authorities.
Most of us tend to ignore some of the ethical issues that we face. Burroughs mentions in the video that similarly, teachers and administrators in schools choose to ignore ethical issues raised by children in class with the hope that they will just fade away. Some of them do not have the knowledge and skills to teach ethics, and it might be the reason many people choose not to do the right thing when confronted with some major ethical dilemmas.

A valuable lesson that can be gathered from the video is that we should always stand for what we believe is right. Ethics emphasizes that whenever we are confronted with situations that need choosing between convenience and doing the right thing, we should always see upon ourselves that it is our duty to do the right thing. Choosing convenience might seem to be the easiest thing at an instant, but the long term consequences may be grave. Therefore, we must strive to do the right thing all the time. Lastly, ethics should also be incorporated within the school curriculum to impart vital ethics skills to students.
