After reviewing future research needs provided in the textbook, emergency response, disaster recovery and theoretical directions are some of the topics that require further research. Emergency response requires further research because Akter & Wamba (2019) noted that people respond differently to disasters by combining improvisation and preparedness. On the other hand, disaster recovery requires further research because it comprises of multiple disaster recovery activities. The theoretical direction is the most critical topic in need of further research. To study this critical topic as a researcher, I would outline the topic to be studied, the current problem, what to be studied, and most importantly, the significance of the topic as follows: Theoretical directions of disaster response. The current problem is that there is no balance between theoretical and practical significance when it comes to disaster response. There is a need to link the practical problems that normally occur in disasters with social science theories and any other perspectives which include disaster crisis response and public health. Since disaster research involves field studies, I would travel to the site where a disaster was reported to conduct personal interviews and observe the behaviors at the disaster scene. I will also interview key informants on the balance between theoretical and practical significance in response to a disaster. I would also use surveys because Zhao et al. (2016) , noted that survey research is reliant currently. The topic to be studied is significant in obtaining a balance between practical and theoretical significance when it comes to disaster response. The topic is also significant in obtaining a link between practical problems and social sciences theories. The issue being discussed is on the social wellbeing of people during and after disasters. The issue being discussed relate to biblical and scriptural principles because they consequently strive for the social wellbeing of people.
