The past couple of months have seen our economic and social life disrupted due to the spread of the deadly coronavirus, which is now a global pandemic. Evidently, this has put a strain on a few sectors. One of the sectors is the health care sector. As the number of infected people continues to increase, the demand for proper medical care to allow these patients to recover also increases (Mrudula, 2020). I work as a full-time health care provider and the amount of workload has increased significantly over the past couple of months. I currently have some added shifts that I have to cover in a week. At the end of the day, I am very exhausted and my concentration span is low. It is hard to focus on anything constructive. This has impacted negatively on my course work. I am also a parent, raising school-age children. The global pandemic has led to the closure of schools due to fear of the spread of the virus. This has subsequently forced us, parents, to adopt an alternative approach towards educating our kids. Homeschooling is now essential to the development and growth of our children. I have to at least set aside a few hours to teach my kids on the unaccomplished part of the syllabus. The time I take to plan this out and actually execute it is significant leaving me with very limited time to concentrate on my course work. In this case, I put my children’s education first followed by mine. This closure of schools has made me shift my timetable for the course work to accommodate my kids. It is hectic but very necessary. The classes that I am currently taking also claim a considerable amount of my time. Some of them last for a couple of hours and leave me exhausted at the end of the day. There is very limited time for me to do my personal studies. These challenges really derail my progress in the course work.
