Several scientific inventions and historical occurrences that transformed the world to its present state can be attributed to the 19 th century. For instance, immigration, technological inventions in the medical and automotive areas, numerous revolutions, as well as civil wars are some of the noticeable occurrences of the century. One of the most conspicuous periods that witnessed numerous developments during the 19 th century is the industrial revolution period (Smitha, 2018). The period culminated the use of primitive tools and ushered the use of more advanced technologies such as electricity. Other fields such as medicine also advanced during this century. For example, Lois Pasteur born in 1822 verified microscopic organisms were the cause of diseases. He came up with the method of pasteurization, which is, sterilizing liquids by heating them (Lambert, 2018) . Additionally, the 19th century witnessed the outmaneuvering of the ‘then’ superpowers by the current ones. For instance, Britain is one of the ‘then’ superpowers whose economy reaped from the industrial revolution of the century (Lambert, 2018) . It’s the same period when Britain lost as a superpower. Furthermore, it is the same century when France and Britain went to war after breaking the peace treaty between the two nations. Similarly, the Napoleon war broke up this century and was defeated thus resulting in the balance of power in the European continent (US Office of the Historian, n.d.) . By this time the United States was basking in tranquility, which made the nation focus on domestic expansion (Smitha, 2018).
