The therapeutic alliance is the relationship between a healthcare practitioner and the client/patient. It is very important that the nurse always develops this kind of alliance so that the patient gets a calm environment to express him/herself without fare. It is through this relationship that the patient will get proper medical care, as it will ensure a good working relationship ( Bedics et al., 2015 ).

I would first engage the student by creating a bond and establishing an environment of trust where the student feels free and safe to share his/her issue. The need is to create a collaborative relationship where the nurse encourages the student to feel free and to see the nurse as a friend and someone out to help ( Tschuschke, 2015 ). Through collaboration and enhanced trust as well as a safe environment where the patient feels safe and free, they can be open and share their issues so that they can get the help

As a nurse dealing with students, it is most likely that students mighty be suffering but find it difficult to disclose their health conditions fully. Some might completely avoid seeking medical attention within the institution, and some can seek medical attention within the institution, but more oven hesitates to disclose some information. As a nurse handling students, it much important to create therapeutic alliance so that you can be of benefit to students. As a school nurse, whenever a student visits you seeking medical attention it’s important that one displays a welcoming face as he/she welcomes the students. It is also important that you engage the students by asking them questions that are not related to medical care before you start knowing their medical need. By so doing, you could have actively engaged the student and created friendship that will enable the student to share with you freely without hiding any information.
