Access privileges refer to the authority handed to specific individuals within the organization to access the database system ( Pratt & Last, 2015 ). Access privileges may vary from read-only to edit on different users. This implies that while other users can only read the data from the system, others are able to access and make changes. This is achieved by developing user accounts and configuring their access privileges to match their respective job description.

It is quite true that Database Administrators formulate policies and manage databases. Disaster planning is an important functional policy of the system because it recommends deployment of emergency measures to ensure steady flow of information within the system. Various preventive measures help reduce risks such as loss of data or unauthorized access to the system. Disaster planning takes interest in preventing a lot of risks and that makes it indeed, a critical policy.
