The article influenced my thinking on adult and workforce education. The authors (Roumell, Salajan, & Todoran, 2019), write of adult education to instill knowledge to adults with the inability to read, speak, or document using the English language. Those adults can now fit in the job market and become less reliant on others. It improves their capability to profit from work-related training plus boost their chances of getting to more profitable and productive employment; thus, making them meet their adult responsibilities. The article, therefore, shed some light on my perspective towards adult education. After reading the article, I now support adult and workforce education policy as a way of getting through the war on poverty and racial crisis. I believe that the trends in the advancement of such a system aim to improve and align training, employment, and education programs to boost the personal and national growth of the economy.
In my opinion, learning is a long journey in life. Education is not just a privilege that should only get reserved for youths and children, but it should continue even in adulthood. At school age, individuals are not sure what to do or pursue or even the way they plan on getting there. I believe making such a decision at a tender age is out of the question. Thus, it is essential for adult education and workforce to be readily available once individuals are ready to make such choices.
I will apply the knowledge I gained from the article in educating my peers and the whole society's importance of adult and workforce education. I will let my community know that adult education aids us in keeping up with world changes. Since the coming of technology, the world has been transiting. The designs in which we travel, communicate, work, and study has changed forever. However, if we want to always be productive, we must keep up with the pace. Thus, adult education intervenes in learning ways of dealing with issues like sexuality, gender, race, and religion will build a more harmonious community.
Similarly, from what I have learned, adult education is essential in retraining. As technology advances, specific jobs that existed are no longer of use. Unfortunately, for many workers, it indicates slowing down; for instance, posts like checkout assistants are out of the market due to the invention of the self-service machine. Therefore, adult and workforce education will aid in retraining personnel to adapt to the coming years. Also, adult learning helps people who dislike their current positions and wants to try a new path. With that information, my society will learn the importance of adult learning and view it positively.
