Light is an electromagnetic radiation having a certain amount of electromagnetic spectrum. Light is usually visible to the eye of a human being thus responsible for one of the senses; this is the sense of sight through the eye. Earth has one main (natural) source of the light, sun. However, the sun is only an external source and not an interior source. As a result, other (artificial) sources of light have been invented and designed to light up different interior places to make it possible for vision where natural light cannot reach or penetrate well or when darkness sets in.
Different interior places such as malls, hospitals, offices, and homes among others use different kinds of lighting which may both be artificial and natural during the day. During the day, malls, hospitals, and office places may employ natural light and a little of artificial light, but homes tend to fully employ the natural light and only use artificial light during nighttime. There are three basic types; these are ambient (general) lighting, accent (highlighting) lighting mostly draws attention to a particular piece of art, and task lighting which is for a specific room such as kitchen among others (HGTV, 2017). Home lighting may take any type of illumination either ambient or accent lighting and consider task lighting in the kitchen. All the home lighting systems are soft thus appraising the mood and the appearance of the house. Within malls different lighting may be used in addition to home lighting, for instance, a mall may use accent lighting to draw the attention of potential customers due to their artful gallery.

Mostly, malls employ LED lights, this because LED lights are friendly thus appealing to the eye (Etzler, 2017). Since shopping malls are considered to be social and interaction centers and attract people from all walks of life the lighting in these places are always soft and appealing to the mood thus making every moment memorable. Workplaces, Just like other interior places, need energy-saving as well as flexible lighting systems. Since most offices run mostly during the day time, require natural light as well as artificial lighting. The illuminance of an office is expected to be moderate so as not to irritate the workers and ensure that they are comfortable thus more productive. With a good illuminance in an office, productivity is guaranteed, therefore offices ensure that they install user-friendly lights which will not interfere with an individual s mood and the appearance of the office.
Earths main source of light is the sun which gives natural light during the day. However, the sun is only an external source and not an interior source. As a result, other (artificial) sources of light have been invented and designed to light up different interior places to make it possible for vision where natural light cannot reach or penetrate well or when darkness sets in. As a result, vision is made easier whether there is a little or no light in a place.
